Inclusive hiring at Unit4: Building equal opportunities for all

At Unit4, we take pride in the diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences that shape our global culture. Every day, we celebrate this by creating an environment grounded in trust, ambition, and wellbeing.

These are the principles that guide us in building a people-first company, where everyone is empowered to do their best work. We improve how people work by focusing on what truly matters, and this includes enabling different opportunities for different people.

It’s about recognizing the uniqueness of every individual and equipping them with the autonomy and trust they need to make a real impact.

Inclusive hiring in action

We recognise there are unique barriers that people face in the job market, which can vary widely depending on their background or identity. That’s why we're constantly evolving our recruitment practices to offer fair opportunities for all.

As part of this effort, our Global Talent Acquisition team, alongside our Employer Branding Specialist from the Global Communications team, took part in an inclusive hiring training. To strengthen our understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) and embed these values even more deeply in how we attract and engage talent.

I believe this training is crucial because it empowers individuals from all backgrounds, fosters deeper understanding, and creates environments where everyone feels valued and supported.

Irene Hernandez Jack

Senior Recruiter at Unit4

Over several weeks, the team explored foundational DE&I concepts, practical tools for inclusive recruitment, and strategies for driving meaningful change. Every session included interactive parts of practicing the learnings in real scenarios with the focus on how to draft inclusive job offers, how to create an inclusive interview experience and interact with candidates and managers.

  • Our language is powerful
    - We learnt how to use language confidently and intentionally when discussing DE&I topics, so we can bring others along, challenge bias, and reduce barriers in the recruitment process.

  • Embrace theory with curiosity
    - The training encouraged us to stay curious and critically reflect on best practices and evolving standards in inclusive hiring. It’s not just about knowing what to do, it’s about why it matters.

  • The neuroscience of change
     - Lasting change starts with rewiring our thinking. By challenging old beliefs and expanding our mindset, we begin a ripple effect, from our own teams to the broader organisation.

  • Have accountability
    - We learnt what it means to hold ourselves accountable, not just in what we say, but in how we show up. That means questioning assumptions, setting clear boundaries, and being transparent about the impact of our decisions.

What's next

This training is one of many steps we’re taking in our ongoing journey toward greater inclusion. Our commitment doesn’t end here. We’ll continue to embed inclusive practices into our recruitment processes, while expanding similar initiatives across departments and into our leadership community.

At Unit4, we believe everyone belongs. We’re building a workplace where people can thrive as their authentic selves, where diverse contributions are valued, and where each of us can inspire others—not by fitting in, but by standing out.
