Amie's story

“Unit4 just keeps getting better. When I started in 2017 compared to now, it is just worlds apart in terms of strategy, product, growth, and fun!! I can wholeheartedly say that Unit4 is ‘In business for people’, it’s not just a strapline.”

Tell us about yourself

Hi there! I started Unit4 in 2017 as a fresh faced graduate. Unit4 gave me some unbelievable opportunities to be successful early on, and within my first 18 months I had been recognized as third top performing sales person, globally within the business. This really kick-started my career, and since then I have had several fantastic opportunities, which ultimately led to me managing my own sales team in 2019.

What was your background prior to joining Unit4 and how has your career developed since starting?

Before Unit4, I was living in Beijing, studying Chinese, and working as a Visa Writer for the British Embassy. Essentially printing, sticking and embossing British visas before sending them off to the applicants. Part of the reason I loved it because the Embassy stocked British snacks shipped from the UK, so it felt a bit like home!

Sales is such an exciting place to be, because you are in the middle of the action!

What team do you work in, what products do you sell, is this to existing business or new prospects?

I lead the Digital Sales team within the UKI. We handle purely existing business, and we sell a range of products, including cloud migrations, additional functionality/seats, upgrades, enhanced support services, and cross sales. You name it, we sell it.

What are the best parts about working in Sales at Unit4?

Sales is such an exciting place to be, because you are in the middle of the action! As a sales person, you will probably have links to all areas of the business, whether that be legal, business development, solution consulting, sales operations, senior management.. The list goes on. Sales people really need to bring everyone on-board to get deals across the line, and it’s a brilliant team effort. You get to meet (and socialize) with everyone!

What are you most excited about for the future at Unit4?

It sounds cheesy, but Unit4 just keeps getting better. When I started in 2017 compared to now, it is just worlds apart in terms of strategy, product, growth, and fun!! I can wholeheartedly say that Unit4 is ‘In business for people’, it’s not just a strapline. I am also super excited to see the first implementations of ERPx, and how that will change the game for our customers. Unit4 is constantly evolving and growing, and it’s a privilege to be part of that.

Each and every one of my team are the manager of their own business. Its not easy, but if you have the drive, you will make your own success.

What are the challenges that people need to overcome in order to thrive in sales at Unit4?

Sales is a demanding job, that’s for sure, but the rewards are certainly worth it. In order to thrive you will need to feel that fire inside of you, that self-driven attitude to keep going, and drive opportunities forward. Each and every one of my team are the manager of their own business. They need to manage their portfolio effectively without daily direction, find compelling events to drive business, and demonstrate value to the customer to close an opportunity. Its not easy, but if you have the drive, you will make your own success.

You were awarded a place on the Top Performers Club trip to Costa Rica. What are you looking forward to most?”

Wow, I still can’t believe I’ll be going on a plane this year! Honestly I’m so looking forward to some beautiful scenery (waterfalls!!), the sun, sea, and some delicious food. Mostly, I’m looking forward to actually being able to take a real holiday with my fiancée, as we haven’t left the UK since getting engaged in 2020.
