Women’s ERG: From advocacy to action on inclusion

Every year, International Women’s Day (IWD) invites us to recognize the voices, experiences, and impact of women across the world.

This year at Unit4, we turn the spotlight toward our Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG)—a supportive space where women come together to learn, grow, and support one another. Through a shared purpose, the ERG champions inclusion not as an ideal, but as a lived commitment rooted in community.

In this conversation with Laura Aguinaga, Project Manager and Michelle Eisenberg, General Counsel at Unit4, we explore an internal point of view from the ERG and discuss why spaces like this are essential for building an environment where every woman feels empowered to contribute and thrive.

About the ERG: How would you describe its mission?

From my perspective, our mission is to create a supportive community that empowers women to grow, lead, and thrive. We share experiences, learn from one another and promote initiatives that contribute to greater inclusion, equity and representation across the organization.

-Laura Aguinaga

What motivated you to join the Women ERG?

As a leader in this organization, I felt a responsibility to use my position to create real impact. Becoming the executive sponsor of the Women ERG felt like a natural extension of that, it gave me a way to actively champion inclusion rather than simply advocate for it in the abstract. I wanted to help open doors and create the conditions for women at Unit4 to truly thrive.

- Michelle Eisenberg

How do you see the ERG influencing the community at Unit4?

I see the ERG as a genuine catalyst for change. It helps women build visibility, find mentors, and develop the confidence to step into bigger roles or develop in their own roles. But it also sends a message to the entire organization: that leadership is paying attention and is committed to creating an environment where women can advance and lead. That signal matters more than people might realize.

- Michelle Eisenberg

How has being part of this ERG influenced your confidence, leadership, or sense of belonging at work?

Being part of the Women@Unit4 ERG has encouraged me to continue growing and to feel more confident speaking up and sharing my ideas. It has encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone. Knowing I’m part of a community that listens with intention and supports each other creates a strong sense of belonging.

- Laura Aguinaga

What would you say to anyone who’s unsure about joining an ERG?

I'd say: this space was built for you. I can tell you that the commitment behind this community is real — it's not a checkbox exercise. Come and experience it for yourself. You might be surprised by how much you find, whether that's connection, inspiration, or simply the reassurance that you belong here.

- Michelle Eisenberg

Why do you believe spaces like this are necessary in tech companies today?

Laura: Because they bring different perspectives into the conversation, which ultimately helps us build better solutions. In technology, diversity of thought is essential. Spaces like this encourage people to feel comfortable sharing their ideas, embracing their differences and recognizing that those differences can make our products and teams stronger.

Michelle: Because good intentions aren't enough: you need structure. In tech, we're still working to close significant gaps in representation and leadership, and without dedicated spaces like this, it's easy for those efforts to get lost in the pace of the business. I've seen how quickly inclusion can become a low priority when there's no community holding the organization accountable to it. The Women ERG exists to make sure that doesn't happen here. It keeps the conversation alive, gives women a place to grow and connect, and reminds all of us in leadership that there is still real work to do.

What’s one thing you hope every woman at Unit4 feels when she interacts with this ERG?

Laura:  I hope that every woman at Unit4 feels that this ERG is a space where her voice matters. Our community is a space where we meet as equals and focus on lifting each other up.

Michelle: I hope she feels seen. I want every woman to know that this isn't just a community built by peers, it has the full backing of leadership. When you walk into this space, I want you to feel that your voice doesn't just matter within these walls, but that it reaches further and influences the organization as a whole. That the conversations happening here actually change things.

We thank the Women behind the ERG for helping Unit4 build an intentional space where women are supported and where leadership and community work together to amplify voices that move our organization forward.

As we commemorate International Women’s Day, our Women’s ERG serves as a reminder that progress is shaped not only by policies but by people—by the courage to speak up, the willingness to listen, and the commitment to create room for every woman to grow. The conversations happening here don’t end within the ERG—they inspire movement across Unit4, making clear that inclusion is a responsibility we all share.
